Body Works & Therapeutic Massages

In Ayurvedic medicine, massage has always played a major role in healing - mind, body & soul. Special medicated and warmed oils are used and are selected in consideration to balancing Vata, Pitta and Kapha in the body and mind. Strokes are selected according to the client’s constitution and imbalances.

Kati Basti (lower back) or Greeva Basti (neck & upper back)

A proven Ayurvedic treatment for acute and chronic musculoskeletal problems such as lower & upper back pain, arthritis, sciatica, slipped disc and frozen shoulder. Dough is shaped into a small ring, placed over the affected area and then filled with heated Ayurvedic herbal oil specific to your needs. The warm oil penetrates the stiff muscle tissue, softening and relaxing and allowing the natural movement of the muscle to remove the build-up of waste. The warmth promotes blood flow to the affected area which supports the healing process and prevents atrophy and tightening of the surrounding muscles resulting from inactivity. Once the oil is removed, the therapist will massage the whole back, paying particular attention to the affected area, which further softens and relaxes these tight muscles. Finally, the treatment concludes with a warm herbal compress which enhances the effect of the treatment and helps to take the oil deeper into the muscle tissue.

Therapeutic and Ama-burning Herbal Support

I select, mix and dispense traditional Ayurvedic herbs for my clients based on their unique needs using the classical techniques.  All my products are TGA approved, most are organic, and my packaging is home compostable.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, herbal supports are usually short term: to support the body systems that are weak, until they are healed (mostly through diet and lifestyle changes), whereby they should once again be able to do their job unsupported.  Many ‘alternative’ modalities support you with herbs and pills, with no end in sight, being very expensive, and, the supported organs actually will not get an opportunity to heal and work for themselves again.

If you are prepared to make lifelong diet and lifestyle adjustments, then Ayurvedic herbs will be the icing on the cake for your pathway back to wellness.  If not, there is no point in taking any herbal supplements from Ayurveda or any other modality.

If your pathology is longstanding and deep-seated, Ayurvedic herbs (along with diet & lifestyle changes) will be needed longer term to support you, and it may be more about managing rather than curing your disease.
